When William (Bill) Pasteur, the long time Chairman of the Northeast Tarrant Right to Life Educational Association passed away, the Association felt we should do something to honor his legacy by continuing his battle for the sanctity of life of unborn babies. Bill was the rock of our foundation, and we pressed on in our pro-life work with Bill’s ever-present spiritual guidance. Bill was well noted as a thorn in the side of Planned Parenthood as he initiated and proposed resolutions to the Bedford, Euless and Hurst city councils to declare Planned Parenthood as “persona non grata“ in these cities and that they only served to be an evil influence on the youth of those cities. Although his resolutions were not always passed, his success rate was noteworthy and he certainly got the attention of Planned Parenthood executives.
To honor his hard work and pro-life legacy of over twenty years fighting for the lives of unborn babies, it was decided to initiate a protest at the Planned Parenthood Office in Bedford in his memory. The first couple of protests in March 2011 were so very well attended and highly successful that a decision was made to continue the protests on a regular basis. It was determined that the protests would be held on the first Tuesday of the month as that was generally a voting day. And the time was set at noon to allow those on a lunch break the opportunity to attend. The location was set to be at the corner of Central Dr. and Harwood as there is a Planned Parenthood clinic in that shopping center.
Thus, the first regularly scheduled protest was conducted in April 2011. Shortly thereafter, Council 7641 of the Knights of Columbus joined the Northeast Tarrant Right to Life in participating in the protests. St Michael’s Catholic Church also had parishioners in attendance.
The protests have been held every month since our inception with the exception of April, May, and June 2020 due to the Covid-19 Virus restrictions by the City of Bedford. Protests resumed that July with several protestors in attendance.
These protests have been very successful in getting word out on the necessity of de-funding Planned Parenthood to insure they no longer receive government funds to continue their evil practice of aborting babies in the womb. We attempt to influence voters to consider only pro-life legislators as worthy of election. As an ecumenical organization we welcome members of all faiths to join our protests and our organization.
The protests take place on the first Tuesday of every month from noon to 1pm and all supporters of our pro-life mission are welcome.
